Our New MaaS360 Healthcare IT Compliance Service
by Jim Szafranski, Fiberlink
In our previous blog entries I discussed why mobility is so important to healthcare organizations, including data from a Forrester® Consulting study that confirmed the high levels of mobility, and the high priority of compliance and security, among healthcare companies.
Yesterday, Fiberlink announced the availability of the MaaS360 Healthcare IT Compliance Service. This service is a cloud-based application designed to address the specific mobility and mobile compliance and security issues of healthcare, pharmaceutical, and life sciences organizations.
In particular, this service can help healthcare organizations:
- Ensure that technical safeguards for electronic protected health information (EPHI) are always installed and working on laptops and distributed PCs.
- Maintain a daily “watch list” of exactly which systems are out of compliance with endpoint security policies related to HIPAA and other regulations.
- Reduce the burden of audits.
- Automate management of laptops and PCs.
Why did we build such a product? In a nutshell, because the industry needs it. Here’s why, in my opinion.
- Healthcare is far more mobile than existing LAN-based device management solutions can support.
- The emergence of mHealth promises to take healthcare mobility to new levels.
- Healthcare providers need nimble and low-cost solutions to enable the adoption of new technologies.
That’s what the MaaS360 Healthcare IT Compliance Service is. A low-cost way to embrace mobile technology and mHealth without compromising the privacy of information or the compliance with HIPAA/HITECH regulations. If you want to learn more about the specifics of the service, you can review the datasheet.
